Moving paddle due to rain

• You must have your PFD on and fully fastened to participate in this event.
• Event start time is in your boat, in the water, and ready to paddle!
• Sea kayaks and spray skirts are not required, but be sure that your equipment and skill level are appropriate to venture outside the Poquonnock River cove and paddle around Bushy Point, Pine Island, etc.

Bluff Point State Park is at the south end of Depot Road in Groton. An address of 55 Depot Rd, Groton, CT, will get you close. The launch is on the right. Please note that there is a posted out-of-state parking fee of $10.
We must tell you this, even though we've never had an issue parking in the lower lot.

Directions:
Coming from I-395 South: Take the left hand New London exit 5 toward New London and merge onto SR 32. Follow the signs for Rt I-95 North to Groton/Providence. Directions from 95 are below.
Coming from I-95 South: Take exit 88. Turn left onto SR 117 South. Turn right at the end onto Route 1 South. Take a left at the first light onto Depot Road. Park entrance is at the end of the road.
Coming from I-95 North: Take exit 88. Turn right onto SR 117 South. Turn right at the end onto Route 1 South. Take a left at the first light onto Depot Road. Park entrance is at the end of the road.

Required equipment: PFD, 10-foot length of rope, whistle, headlamp/flashlight (for evening paddles). And be prepared to give your emergency contact number to the host if he or she asks for it.

Bluff Point is the last remaining significant piece of undeveloped land along the Connecticut coastline. Jutting out into waters of Long Island Sound, this wooded peninsula, measuring one and one-half miles long by one mile wide, encompasses over 800 acres.
The long, narrow beach is a geological remnant of the continental glaciers and subsequent erosion by wind and water... an ongoing process.
