Black Hall River, Old Lyme

NB*: If your path takes you over the Gold Star Bridge (I-95), you might have serious delays (30-45 mins or so) due to the huge bridge repair project that just started.*
Departing Great Island Boat Launch, we'll head down the Back River and then into the Black Hall River, paddling upriver as far as we can and return. Herons, Egrets, Ospreys, Bald Eagles, Cormorants and Swallows are among the abundance of bird species to be seen. RAIN CANCELS.
Please unload your kayak and park in the upper lot to leave room for trailers turning. Portapotty available.
Requirements: PFD, (You must have your PFD on and fully fastened to participate in this event) headlamp, navigation light on aft kayak deck, 10-foot length of rope, whistle or horn.
Dress for water temp (still cold) and not just for air temp. Bring extra clothing in waterproof bag, lots of water and any desired snacks.
Be prepared to give your emergency contact number to the host if he or she asks for it.
Please be considerate: be on time (in the water and ready to depart!) and cancel if you aren't able to come. Host will check attendance before 10am.
