Lieutenant River, Old Lyme
Details
Meet at 9:30 a.m. to paddle at 9:50 a.m. from the Great Island state boat launch, 45 Smiths Neck Road, Old Lyme for a 11-mile moderately paced out and back paddle of the Lieutenant River. This will allow us to gain maximum benefit from the 12:18 p.m. high tide, giving us a boost in both directions. Lunch will come around 8 miles at the Rt. 156 boat launch, as we no longer can land at the Florence Griswold Museum. Shorten the trip to 9 miles by skipping the Lt. River north of Mill Brook.
Paddlers must provide their own kayak/canoe and other equipment. Per group policy, a life jacket must be worn for the trip duration. Bring lunch, snacks, and water.
Rain cancels and weather-related decisions will be made Friday by 7 a.m. If the weather is uncertain, the leader post an update or cancellation.
