- SUMMER KICKOFF for the First Coast Dragons: For Cancer Survivors + SupportersArlington Marina, Jacksonville, FL
Please sign this waiver before arriving.
Join Get Outdoors Fitness and the Duval Dragons for an introduction to Northeast Florida's newest dragon boat crew for cancer survivors and their supporters: the First coast Dragons. This paddling experience is tailored for people of all ages and fitness levels affected by breast and other cancers. Whether you're a survivor, a thriver, a previvor or a supporter, this is the place for you!
This outdoor kickoff is a great opportunity to exercise, make new friends, and connect with a community that shares similar wellness goals. No prior paddling experience is required, and our experienced coaches from G.O. Fitness will guide you through the basics of paddling a dragon boat. In addition to the scenic paddle on the St. Johns River, our Cancer Exercise Training Institute (CETI)-certified exercise trainer and G.O.F. Director Bekah Alenduff will lead the group in a series of stretches that promote lymphatic movement. Last, you'll participate in a flower ceremony, a tradition in the dragon boat community that remembers those we have lost, those who are still fighting, and those who have beat their cancer diagnosis.
Enjoy our beautiful local waters, feel the warmth of community, and celebrate life with like-minded individuals. This gathering is not just about physical exercise but also about mental well-being and camaraderie. Whether you are looking to stay active, try something new, or simply enjoy outdoor adventures, we hope this dragon boating experience will empower you to leave cancer in your wake!
