What we’re about

BEGIN: Bay Embodied General Intelligence Network

Mission: To identify the missing technological blocks required to build a true humanoid butler—a robot that can reason, adapt, and operate in the physical world.

Join our monthly meeting for researchers, engineers, and forward-thinkers to address the critical questions in Physical AI:

  • Is pouring more data into Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models with diffusion policy a sufficient path forward?
  • If not, what fundamental architectural or algorithmic shifts are necessary?
  • What key research projects are currently tackling these challenges?

Our Approach: We focus on first principles. Like the Wright brothers who studied birds to discover the principles of flight, we are inspired by brain but focused on algorithms and abstraction. Our primary concern is the software ("the mind") over the hardware ("the body").

Who Should Attend: This group is for long-term thinkers and builders in:

  • Machine Learning & AI
  • Robotics & Computer Systems Architecture
  • Cognitive Science & Neuroscience

Format: Our meetings are collaborative roundtables. A brief presentation seeds a group-wide discussion. We conclude by democratically voting for the next meeting's speaker and topic.

Agenda

6:00 PM: Attendee Introductions
6:20 PM: Provocation & Presentation
7:00 PM: Open Roundtable & Discussion
7:20 PM: Pitch & Vote for Next Speaker
7:30 PM: Networking Mixer

If you are driven to solve one of the most rewarding challenges in AI, we invite you to join the conversation.
