John Bauer is our dj tonight from 9:00 to 11:45# John Bauer
John Bauer has been at Friday Night Waltz since the very beginning. When he's not dancing, John enjoys Dance Dance Revolution, working at Stanford NLP, and driving his kids to the rink.

Peggy is teaching Kerry sets.7:15-8:00 and 8:00 to 9:00

Peggy is teaching Kerry Sets, a class she truly enjoys teaching. Kerry sets have been danced at Friday Night Waltz for many years. It is a fun thrilling choreographed set dance very popular with long time Friday Night Waltz dancers. From Richard Powers' description of Kerry Sets:
The first generation of Kerry Polka Sets that were done at Stanford were for a small group that wanted a complicated, challenging pattern. Then when other less experienced dancers started doing that version, it often resulted in chaos. This revised version is actually closer to the original Irish Kerry Sets, which are fast but not complicated.Formation: Four couples in a square, taking closed dance position with partners. The two couples facing up and down the hall are head couples. The others are side couples.
The polka step is a fairly smooth leaping two-step, without a preliminary hop, but there are many regional style variations.

Peggy is the founder of Santa Cruz Waltz & Swing, and has taught Waltz, Swing and Ballroom dancing since 2010 in Santa Cruz and in India, Uganda, China Korea and Japan.
She the first graduate of Palomar Ballroom's DVIDA Certified Teacher Training program
Peggy first learned Swing dancing at Avenues Ballroom San Francisco, while undergrad at SFSU. She works with international students at UC Santa Cruz, and Rotary Water projects in Uganda. She and husband Dr. Bob raised 4 great children in Santa Cruz. Peggy is currently an MFA graduate student at SJSU.here is a video of kerry polka:

– Upon arrival, you’ll take a matching questionnaire built by Matchbox’s team of relationship scientists.
– The Matchbox algorithm will identify your optimal match at the party, based on relationship science, AI, and Nobel Prize-winning economics.
– After mingling with the whole group, matches are revealed (3 rounds of matches)WHO IT’S FOR:
– The matching process is highly intentional—come with an open mind!
– If your match isn’t love at first sight, that’s okay! The algorithm is designed for long-term compatibility, so at baseline, you’ll be values-aligned.

**FAQs:**
**Q: What is your refund policy?**
A: We need to balance the party, and that involves planning! So no refunds can be granted within 5 days of the event.
**Q: What if I don’t get a match?**
A: We aim to maintain a 50/50 male to female ratio but cannot guarantee that all attendees will show up, as life happens. If there is an uneven split, some matches will be paired platonically. But we hope you might make new friends.
**Q: How many interactions can I expect??**
A: Maximize your chances of connection! We highly encourage you to mingle with fellow participants before and after the structured activities. During the event, you'll first connect with others in a small group based on your shared interests, followed by personalized one-on-one connections.CO-SPONSORED by The Society of Single Professionals, Singles Bay Area, and dozens of singles organizations and meetups. All events benefit The Seva Foundation, to restore sight to the blind.
