This outing will an advanced level cold weather camping trip Hot Tent are advised but not mandatory.
This will be an easy one in terms of camp site to car park. Camping sites are literally 50yards from the parking lot. However, it’s still the Catskill Mountains in the winter this means COLD. The luxury of having your car close by affords you the option to bring some extra gear that wouldn’t usually fit into your backpacks. Most of us on this outing will using tents equip with wood burning stoves however it is not a prerequisite for the outing. You can use regular tents and add a Mr. Buddy heater or hammocks but going heavy on the insulation is suggested. Any questions or needed advice feel free to message the event’s host or group leaders so you are well prepared in the sleep system and gear dept.
As for clothing the key is layers it traps the heat generated by your body and keeps it locked in.

The following equipment should be brought on this outing.

  1. Knife
  2. Axe – (optional)
  3. Saw
  4. Head-lamp – Flashlight
  5. Baofeng 2way radio (there is no cell phone signal within 20mins in either direction of the camp site)
  6. Klean canteen or Nalgene bottle
  7. Wool socks
  8. Your preferred Sleep system and warm clothing
  9. Food and Drink for the outing

VERY IMPORTANT RULES
NO DRUGS NO ALCOHOL NO WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED ON OUTINGS.
WAIVERS MUST BE SIGNED BY ALL WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN OUTING.
ALL GARBAGE MUST BE CARRIED OUT TAKE NOTHING BUT PICTURES LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS

If you have any medical conditions and/or carry any medications for your condition, please inform a group leader of said condition and inform us where in your pack you carry your first aid kit and medications as it will speed the process in assisting you should the need arise. We carry first aid kits and trauma kits however it's your responsibility to provide for your own medicine as it will be a special needs item.
