It’s a great opportunity to meet the people behind the organization and learn more about the impact they’re making.## And Yes… There Will Be Raffles!

Catskills Event - Shelter Building
Location not specified yetDenning Road Trailhead, Claryville NY
Welcome to the Catskills this one of the sweeter spots I’ve been to, it’s a great hike into a sea of green.
It's a perfect location for this class. Firstly, you can bring your main sleep system tent or hammock as your backup but bring a tarp and para cord for the class.HOWEVER, YOU WIL BE BUILDING YOUR SHELTER. - You will be taught how to construct several types.
- Why having a tarp or mylar is important.
- How to build a debris shelter.
- How to stay warm in all shelters.
Get your survival kits UOS - Survival KitsBe at the car park at 12pm sharp on Friday as we would like to hike as a group on this one, this is a vast mountain we’ll be keeping it together as a team, safety first. I'm sure that some of us may only be able to come Sat morning, please contact me for details.
The hike distance is just over a mile and a half; it’s a gentle hike at an easy pace on smooth trails with rolling hills and a couple small water crossings. There are active streams on both sides of the camp so no need to pack in a ton of water which greatly effects your weight load add that’s there’s wood in abundance making this spot an amazing find. However, this doesn’t mean easy, we still need to work and practice proper campsite protocols. It’s the Catskills so no food left out ALL food must be hung before bedding down and no scraps left lying around to attract the local wildlife.Classes on this will be shelter building - using tarps in different configurations - an item that everyone should carry - and we will work on a debris shelter.
