HIKE NUMBER THREE
Payments can made via Venmo @Marlon-Smith-51 - $5
Bowling Rock - Sept 26th
We'll meet in the parking lot in front Lake Skannatati @4:30pm
The trails we'll use to get to Bowling Rock will be marked be the Teal and Yellow blazes. These trails are some of the best in the park. Ship Rock and the spine of Hogencamp Mountain are close by as well.
It's an easy hike along the lake side on the Long Path trail heading in a westbound direction until we meet the yellow Dunning trail. From here it's a sharp left continuing in a westerly direction we'll find the Hogencap Mine. Then head along the trail south, slowly progressing west, eventually this leads us in a northerly direction along the trail, it's a bit of a climb but nothing that will wind you for you have reached the summit of Bowling Rock.
The views from up here are nothing short of breathtaking from the surrounding views you can see the beauty of Harriman State Park. We’ll hang here for a few have a bite before heading back down to the lake side parking lot. Total hike approx. 5 miles.
