About us
Something is shifting in how families think about school.
More parents are pulling their kids out of traditional classrooms — not out of frustration alone, but out of conviction. They're homeschooling, joining microschools, unschooling, building co-ops, or piecing together something entirely their own. They're asking harder questions about what children actually need to thrive, and they're done waiting for the system to catch up.
This group is for those families — and for the educators, guides, and thinkers walking alongside them.
Parenting & the Future of Education is a South Florida community for anyone who believes that how we raise and educate children is one of the most consequential decisions we make — and that the answer doesn't have to be the same one everyone else chose.
What we explore together:
• The landscape of alternatives — unschooling, microschools, hybrid models, homeschool co-ops, learner-driven programs, and what the research actually says
• Parenting philosophy — autonomy, intrinsic motivation, trust, and how to raise children who own their own growth
• The future of learning — AI, mastery-based education, entrepreneurship for kids, and what skills actually matter
• Real talk from families in the trenches — what's working, what isn't, and what you wish you'd known sooner
• Workshops, panels, and open houses — hosted at local microschools and learning spaces across South Miami
This group is organized and hosted by Acton Academy Miami South — a learner-driven K–8 microschool now in its sixth year. We started this community because we believe the conversation is bigger than any one school, including ours. Whether you end up here, somewhere else, or forge your own path entirely — you belong in this room.
Come as you are. Bring your questions. Leave with more than you came with.
