About us

Finding out your child is self-harming can feel terrifying, confusing, and deeply overwhelming. Many parents are left wondering what to say, what not to say, how serious it is, and how to support their child without making things worse.
This workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of teens or young adults who are struggling with self-harm, have a history of self-harm, or are showing signs that concern you.
Led by Jennie and Ryan Denney, Associate Marriage and Family Therapists, this workshop will offer practical support, psychoeducation, and relational tools to help parents respond with more confidence, steadiness, and compassion.
In this workshop, we’ll talk about:
Why self-harm can become a coping strategy
What self-harm may be communicating beneath the surface
Common parent reactions and how to respond more effectively
How to talk with your child in a way that lowers shame and defensiveness
How to create safety without relying on fear, panic, or control
How parents can care for themselves while supporting their child
This is not a therapy group and it is not a replacement for crisis care or individual therapy. It is a supportive, educational space for parents who want to better understand self-harm and learn how to stay connected to their child through something incredibly difficult.
Parents do not have to have everything figured out to attend. This workshop is for the parent who feels scared, stuck, unsure, or simply wants to respond in a more informed and connected way.
