Scottish Walk Parade in Old Town ππ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
Details
Old Town's unofficial start of Christmas: bagpipes, Scottish terriers in holiday sweaters, Santa bringing up the rear, and a hundred clans marching down a King Street already decked out in lights and greenery. Fifty-five years running, and one of the best free things to do with little kids all season.
THE PLAN: We'll stake out a spot along the route around 10:30, parade kicks off at 11. Bring a stroller or carrier, something warm to sit on, and a thermos of cocoa or coffee. Afterward we'll wander to a coffee shop or grab lunch for anyone who wants to keep the holiday spirit going. If you've got a baby's first Christmas outfit or a tiny Santa hat, this is the day for it. Our first group holiday photo op!
The city is finalizing a new route this year because of the Market Square construction, so we'll post the exact meeting spot here once it's announced. Message us on Meetup the morning of and we'll flag you down.
COST: Free! No tickets, no reservations, just show up.
GOOD TO KNOW: Old Town parking is rough on parade day, so come early, park a few blocks out, or take the Metro to King Street. Dress warm, you'll be standing a while. The pipe bands are loud, so a hat over tiny ears isn't a bad idea. And if you've got energy left, the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights is that evening at 5:30 on the waterfront, some of us may head back for it.
Drop a comment when you RSVP so we know who to look for. Merry Christmas from Old Town, see you on King Street!
