Parents of high functioning adults on the autism spectrum

This is a hybrid meeting featuring Ryan Berman from Shupin House. We will meet in person at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1601 Mary Drive, Pleasant Hill, 94523, in the Oak Room, and a Zoom link will be sent to all who RSVP for those that wish to attend remotely. The Shupin Community is a supportive, inclusive community in San Francisco's Laurel Heights neighborhood for neurodivergent adults with developmental disabilities in their 20s and 30s who have low support needs and are seeking greater independence, connection, and belonging. Six residential properties within 2.5 blocks of one another offer a continuum of living options, from transitional programs that build independence to intermediate and aging-in-place settings that provide a home for life as needs evolve. Individualized services help participants strengthen independent living skills, build confidence, and navigate everyday responsibilities, while care management coordinates with outside providers, helps navigate benefits, and coordinates healthcare needs. Pre-vocational programming helps participants explore their strengths and interests, develop workplace skills, and prepare for meaningful employment and volunteer opportunities. Robust social and recreational programming creates opportunities to build friendships, try new experiences, and connect with a community of peers. Together, these services give young adults a place to grow their independence while building lasting relationships and a true sense of home and belonging.
