About us

Nouvelle page Meetup!

Usually French-speaking but sometimes presentations are in English as well.

Ruby + AI meetup

Ruby + AI meetup

55 Rue d'Amsterdam, Paris, FR

Special Edition — Ruby + AI
AI can generate Ruby code. The harder skill is learning how to work with it well.
For this special edition, ParisRB.new and AI Tinkerers Paris are joining forces at Algolia for an evening combining technical talks, hands-on practice and the exchange of AI coding best practices.
The goal is to develop the skills that now matter when coding with AI: providing the right context, breaking down tasks, choosing between one or several agents, reviewing generated code, testing it properly and identifying solutions that look convincing but are wrong.
Language
This event will be held in English. French-speaking support will be available during the workshop and informal discussions for anyone who needs it.
What to expect
The evening will have three parts:
Short technical talks about real Ruby, Rails and AI projects
A hands-on workshop based on Paris Ruby Workshop katas
Optional demos and discussions about the methods, successes, failures and lessons discovered during the workshop
During the talks, we encourage you to ask speakers practical questions about their workflows:
Which tools and model versions do they use?
How do they prepare context and project instructions?
When do they use one agent or several?
How do they test and review generated code?
Which tasks do they still prefer to handle themselves?
What failure modes do they encounter most often?
You can then test their practices during the workshop or compare them with your own approach.
Schedule
19:00 — Welcome
19:10 — Introduction
Presentation of the meetup, communities, partners and available katas.
19:30 — AI Coding Practices: Lightning Talks and Q&A
Learn from real development workflows. Participants who prefer to start building immediately may begin their kata in parallel.
20:15 — Ruby + AI Workshop
Work individually or in a small group using your preferred AI coding setup. Pizza, beer and soft drinks will be served.
20:45 — Optional Demo Preparation and AI Feedback
21:00 — Selected Demos: What Worked, What Failed, What We Learned
21:25 — Goodies and Networking
Continue exploring other participants’ experiments and exchange best practices directly with their builders.
22:00 — End of the event
Join the workshop
Bring your laptop and use the AI coding tool of your choice: Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or any other setup.
Before arriving, we recommend:

  • configuring your preferred AI coding tool;
  • checking any required API access or credits;
  • making sure your development environment works.

You can work individually or with other participants. You do not need to be an AI expert, and presenting a demo is entirely optional.
Turn your experiment into a useful demo
If you want to share what you learned, two AI coaches will be available:

The most instructive demos will be invited to present their methods on stage and will receive goodies.
A completed solution is not required. An unexpected failure, a rigorous testing method or a smart way to guide an agent may teach the room just as much.
Participants who do not present on stage can still share their setups, results and best practices during the networking session.
