WEATHER PLAN: We have postponed to Sunday.

Since no new people have RSVP’ed we will not be meeting in Manhattan anymore. We will meet at our secret spot where we keep our boats at 10am.

High tide is at 1:38pm. So we need to launch our boats at 12:45pm which is roughly the beginningng of Slack high tide. If you are planninging on Captaining one of the club boats you should check in with me about what Boats are available and what preparations you should make. I plan on doing a few last minute Improvements to the islands 17 and you should probablyly go over your boat entirely just in case also.

If you are the captain of your boat then you should try to join us at 10am where we keep our boats In Queens. If you are crew you can get there later but please no later then noon. But it would be good for crew to learn more about setting up boats also. This event will finish when all the boats have either completed the circumnavigation or returned to our home base. Depending on conditions. We could finish as a quickly as 12 hours or less which is one tide cycle. We will ride the ebb tide through hell gate and up the Harlem River and down the hudson river and hopefully if we are fast enough we will catch the flood tide up the east river. But with a sailboats it’s hardly ever as easy as hoped for. We will most likely get shut out by the tide before rounding the battery (the southernmost tip of Manhattan) in which case we would beach our boats at one of the many beaches or friendly docks that I know and wait for slack low tide at the battery to proceed. So this could take up to 24 hours. You will be free to leave the boat at any point aling the way for whatever reason. But if you want some sort of bragging rights at least get through Hell Gate first or better yet sail through the entire harlem river rnd to end with its icinic 15 bridges. Sailing through Hell Gate without a motor is very very impressive to any sailor familiar with these waters. And sailing through the entire length of the Harlem River without a motor is unheard of due to the low bridges. We will demistify all this. If you have to tap out at any time we would just drop you off at a convient dock or boat ramp or beach or even a sea wall, when possible, along the way (Dropping people off in the Harlem River being the easiest.)

We will teach you how to sail as best as we can while accomplishing this challenge if you would like.

At this point we 7 Sailors. That would be 3 boats with 2 crew on the two bravos and 3 crew on the Islands 17. Please RSVP ASAP If you plan on joining us! My boat can hold one more safely. And we still have a hobie 14 ready.

Dependingng on your ability you Will either be crew or a Captain. You can use your own Boat or one of ours.

I will update this page as things develope or change. If you want to follow our progress please text me for a google map location sharing link.

This is a members only event. It is 75$/week or 400$/year for membership. The year ends March 31. Club membership includes unlimited access to all of our boats (contingent on a safety checkout and small deposit if sailing unsupervised of course) and admission to all of our weekly sailing events! Also members can bring a guest to any of our events for free (but the member must be at that event and memberships are non transferable the Sane guest can only come to three events for free before they will be asked to join the club.)
