This will be the last opportunity for Pato members to sail Northern Rainbow my legiondary formula 40 racing trimaran. It’s a happy and a sad day that i write this because I am giving up my role of her custodian to someone with the means and need to restore her glory!
The exact nature of this expedition will depend primarily on the first mate to join, and also on the collective desires of the remaining shipmates to lesser degree . I imagine that whoever the first made and crew will be will probably want to race her as fast as possible as this will be the last chance for us to do that. I will not be beaching her any longer, so don’t ask. The reason being that I owe it to the new owner to treat her the way he would have it.
We will want to visit different settlements and towns and learn what it’s like to cruise but it’s up to everyine do decide together. please join us you can Share this experience and help finance this excursion and future excursions.
Don’t worry too much because there will be many many more awesome boats in our future and as they say, variety is a spice of life!
Due to the enormous expense of this monthly excursion. We will have to ask for a $25 donation per night to join this excursion even if you are just camping and the suggested donation per cabin would be $60 a night now.
Haydee has confirmed joining this trip she Is 100% and Im Talking to 4 others that are Interested In coming along. Our capscity is 5 guests and me at the time because we only have two dinghy’s.
This event is a one week lomg monthly event. The exact dates depend on the first sailor who wants to join it and their schedules so future monthly Bahamas excursions will be posted as the dates firm up. if you want to join us, please let me know the dates that work best for you for this month or future months as soon as possible so I don’t book something else especially if you want to donate money or join Patto or reserve a bed because that’s how we finance this Bahamas excursion,
This event will be a Bahamas island hopping sailing experience. The boat is now in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas waiting for this event. She will most likely sail between Great Sale Cay and Whale Cay we will always be just a few hours away from Great Abaco and I ta Capital Marsh harbor so guests can get a taxi to the airport easily at any point. Or it is possible to sail further south if everyone aboard agrees.
The duration of this event will be no longer than 7 days from April 18 to 25. People can leave the boat at any time as before. Once again, anyone can leave the boat early at any point and take a taxi to the nearest airport early It they choose to.
This event needs someone new to join pato and or reserve a bed or donate money (optional) to make this happen. Also everyone coming will have to share expenses such as food, water, fuel although the fuel cost is minimal depending on the weather conditions and prefered destinations.
This journey will start at Marsh Harbor airport where everyone will meet and together we will goto the boat and we will all goto the airport together April 25 to see everyone off safely together at marsh harbour airport again.
We have 1 Hobie Bravo on board as our sailing tender. So you can get more experience and training on our 12’ Catamaran when we are anchored. And or possibly sail ahead or alongside the big boat on the bravo by yourself or with one other person.
Once again THERE IS AN OPTION TO SAIL alone SINGLEHANDED IN A HOBIE BRAVO to the same islands FOR THE BRAVEST PARTICIPANT! The big boat will follow the Bravo in this case,
Also, we will ask participants of this event and all future Bahamas events to donate 60$/night for a reserved bed inside the boat, to offset the boats Bahamas expenses like storage and maintenance. If a Pato member wants to sleep outside or in a tent when possible that is 25$/night.
More details to come.
No experience necessary but this is a members only event. You must join our club to go on this excursion. It is 75$/week or 400$/year. The year ends March 31. Club membership includes unlimited access to all of our boats (contingent on a safety checkout) and admission to all of our weekly sailing events! And Pato members are not required to do volunteer maintenence days but are encouraged to take a leadership role or help teach others. Also members can bring a guest to any of our events for free (but the member must be at that event and memberships are non-transferable.)
All the funds raised by membership fees go to building the www.freesailingschool.org and this club either through purchasing / acquiring boats or business expenses. Please help us get more competent single handed sailboat captains on the New York City Waterways!
Please direct message me if you have and suggestions to make this event better and/or our club better! Or if you have any requests for awesome future excursions or events!
