What we’re about
Almost every Sunday (please check our calendar) we offer a class on meditation instruction and practice. The class generally practices "calm abiding" (shiney/samatha) meditation, which is the art of calming the mind as taught in Tibetan Buddhism. We also investigate "insight" (lag-tong/vipashyana), the meditation practice that enables deeper insight into the nature of self and the world to positively transform our relationship with ourselves and with others. No experience is needed. All are welcome, including you.
We follow the teachings of the Palyul Lineage of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit our website at http://www.palyuldc.org/

For seven months, our Book Study Group is exploring The Power of Mind, by Khentrul Lodrö T’hayé Rinpoche. This book introduces the teachings of the Seven Key Points of Mind Training, which have been passed down from teacher to student for centuries. The 10th century Indian saint Atisha risked his life to seek out these teachings in Indonesia, and then brought them to Tibet, where they flourished and spread to the rest of the world. Khentrul Rinpoche was inspired by his own teachers, who, like alchemists, were able to follow these teachings to transform their immense suffering into positive qualities. Part four of this book (of seven parts) is on Training in Living and Dying, the topic for discussion on Sept. 15th. (Our Book Study Group meets every month as part of our Sunday morning program and is open to all who are interested.)
In our weekly classes, we explore the richly variegated jewel that is Tibetan Buddhist doctrine or liturgy, including a short meditation or two. There is plenty of time for Q-&-A. All who are reading this message are warmly invited.

“The Tibetan word 'jin-lab' is loosely translated as ‘blessings.’ Jin-lap transforms our whole being—our body, our speech, the way we think, how we understand phenomena, and the way we relate to ourselves and the world. Ultimately, however, what jin-lap does is to break the shell of our ego and force us to see the true nature of our minds. Among the many other causes and conditions, in the Vajrayana it is the guru who is considered the most important and indeed supreme cause for doing all of the above.” -Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, “Ocean of Blessings” (p. vii)
“If we had pure perception from the beginning, we wouldn’t need to train in it. However, at present our mind is filled with disturbing emotions, our way of perceiving is very obscured, and we lack pure perception. Therefore, we need to train in pure perception.” -His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, “Ocean of Blessing” (pp. 9-11)

Our 90-minute, on-line class begins at 8:30 a.m.
In our weekly classes, we explore the richly variegated jewel that is Tibetan Buddhist doctrine or liturgy, including a short meditation or two. There is plenty of time for Q-&-A. All who are reading this message are warmly invited.
