Tier1.5: Grilling potluck picnic on the small island off Sauvie island

Details
Last time we did this paddle was about 6 years ago and it was a really beautiful and fun outing!
The plan is to meet up at Gilbert boat ramp, (at the end of Sauvie island, a bit past the nude beach), paddle 1.8 miles up Multnomah Channel to a cute little island that has a nice area with a grill. There we grill, have a brunch potluck, go for a swim, explore the island or do anything else that feels appealing.
Then we paddle back. If anyone feels like they want to have a beach time they can stop by at the nude beach for the afterparty.
We are meeting at Gilbert boat ramp at 10:30am. You can put these coordinates into your Google maps to find it:
45.7890, -122.7995
Allow yourself some extra driving time for traffic and buying parking permit.
Hoping to be on the water by 11am.
Parking: $10 parking permit is purchased at the store near the entrance to the island. Or $30 annual pass. This covers you for both boat ramp and beach parking.
Paddling: we will be going against the current on the way there. It should not be too bad, but probably noticeable. However the tide seemigly might help us a touch. On the way back should be easy with the current
Grilling potluck: Bring something to put on the grill, and/or a dish that goes with it. Also if you have some charcoal/lighter fluid it's be really helpful.
The island has a bathroom.
What to pack:
- Kayak (SUP, canoe, bathtub) and all the accessrories (seats, skeg, paddles, pump, PFD)
-Sun protection (clothes or sunsreen)
- Water
- Food for potluck
- Charcoal (if you happen to have some, write in the comment you are bringing it)
- Wearing a bathing suit might be nice in case we swim
- Towel
- Any fun having things like musical instruments or games
Carpooling:
Considering the distance and parking fee it might be fun to carpool. Feel free to organize for that in the comments.
Also on the day like that traffic on the island might be noticeable. Expect to possibly spend some extra time then returning.
If you need a watercraft or have any questions feel free to message Jack.
As of posting of this event I have one spot in my kayak and more watercraft I can lend.
Supporting this group:
We'll happily accept donations for running of this group. All the money goes towards the meetup fees and loaner gear. To donate, please give cash to the event host, or send it via Venmo to @JackBaikov (if it asks for last 4 digits of phone number, they are 7191).
Thank you
