Tier1: Willamette Narrows on a Pre-Fall Saturday

OK, a little last minuet, but if you're free Saturday morning, let's head to the Willamette Narrows. The group hasn't been here in awhile and it's one of the more interesting parts of the Willamette close to town. The "Narrows" is a chain of basalt islands in the middle of the river, which offers many small passages, nooks and crannies, perfect to explore via paddle craft. It should be a nice day and not too hot. Let's meet at the grassy parking lot at 10, get boats ready, and launch at 10:30. Bring a lunch and we'll try to land on one of the rocky islands, just like in the picture. Access to certain islands will depend on water levels, but currents shouldn't be that bad. We'll try not to return too late, since that's when the winds pick up.

What to bring:

• A kayak or SUP
• Waterway Access Permit if your vessel is 10' or longer Info here
• Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and whatever else you need to keep safe
• Grippy water shoes - for walking on slippery rocks
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Sun protection
• Water and snacks
