Tier 1: Spooky Halloween Paddle on the Tualatin River
Details
Costumes are encouraged!
Saturday forecast calls for a dry, partly cloudy day with afternoon temps in the mid 50's. Let's take advantage of this amazing weather with our annual spooky Halloween paddle. We will gather around 1:30 PM in the parking lot, inflate the kayaks, and hopefully hit the water by 2:00. There is a large dock with a newly added kayak launch, so you should be able to get in and out of the boats without getting wet. We will go downstream as far as we can make it in an hour, turn around and paddle back to the dock. We should be out of the water by 4:00, and all packed up by 4:30.
Shoot me a message if you don't have a kayak and need a seat, but preference is given to new members who want to try inflatable kayaking.
In addition to inflatables, SUP's and hard-shell kayaks are welcome.
What to bring:
- A kayak or SUP
- Waterway Access Permit Info here
- Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and whatever else you need to keep safe
- Weather-appropriate clothing. Layers! Gloves. Hat.
- Water and snacks. Thermos with a hot beverage.
- Sun protection
- Optional but strongly encouraged: A spooky Halloween costume.
A quick reminder that Meetup organizers are unpaid volunteers and claim no special expertise or knowledge. We will paddle as a group but ultimately you are responsible for your own experience, safety and decision-making.
