About us
Plagiarizing your group's original (former) founder:
"Hello Portland (and other places) Neurodivergent Folks! Sometimes the effort to mask for our neurotypical friends can be draining or frustrating. Sometimes we want to talk about this one awesome thing we love! Sometimes we want to be around people who get us."
This group is a place for neurodivergent adults in Portland, Oregon to find other neurodivergent adults with whom to hang out and have fun. This is an LGBTQIA2S+ -safe space. Self-diagnosis is valid: "If you think you belong here (and you are at least 18 years old), you do."
Your humble co-organizer Meredith (she/her) is a neurotistic (her word) divergent-thinking learning-challenged female who has the privilege of being white, cis-, and hetero-, who shies away from leading but who loves to organize and has a bit of a calendar/scheduling kink. "Be Kind: We're All Idiots." Always try to leave things better than you found them.
Your AuDHD co-organizer Sara (they/she) is a bit of an introvert, but when they do come out of their craft/cat-riddled hobbit hole to socialize, Rainbow Brains are hands-down their favorite people to spend time with. They are grateful to share this group with you and appreciate all of you for showing up in whatever ways make you shine your rainbow-iest.
Your co-organizer Ellie (she/her) is a queer AuDHD woman who loves anthropology, archaeology, mythology, psychology, fun facts, and hearing and learning about other people's interests. She's always happy to learn something new! Being new to the Portland area, she's interested in learning more about the area as well. She's thrilled to be here now connecting with so many other wonderful Rainbow Brains!
We hope you'll reach out to us in a direct message on Meetup and tell us what you'd like to see. Let us know if you have an idea you want to host! We welcome chances to make events accommodating and want you to let us know your needs.
Cheers, Meredith and Sara and Ellie
