Walking Portland: Pearl District, Downtown, Uptown Winter Romp

Details
COURTESY & NO SHOWS: Moving to the top of the list because this issue has become problematic. If you register for a meetup and later discover you are unable to attend, please unregister AT LEAST 48 HOURS in advance of the meetup, thus allowing another member to take your spot. (There is no need to leave a reason.) Membership in this group will be discontinued WITHOUT NOTICE after multiple no-shows or late drops. Thank you for considering your fellow walkers and our time and effort in organizing these events!
NOTE: Trekked this general territory again recently (12/27/24 and 1/1/25) and Portland looks great! Made some changes to the previous route map to reflect our more recent walks of the neighborhoods.
WALK MAP: (Revised link. Should work for everyone now.)

VIBE: Expect a mostly flat, sidewalk walk-and-gawk of about 5 miles. If you haven't been to downtown Portland since pre-pandemic, you'll see lots of great new shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Negative street life (street encampments, drug overdoses, etc.) is now mostly under control. We saw none today.
PARKING: Allow PLENTY OF TIME to acquire usually available 4-hour street parking in Pearl District near The Fields Park on 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th streets. We leave promptly at 10:00 A.M.
ATTIRE: Sturdy walking/running shoes, compact umbrella, and layered clothing appropriate for the weather. Plus, anything else you need to survive 2-3 hours stomping city sidewalks and reasonably well-maintained trails (water, energy bar, chapstick, lightweight backpack, adventurous spirit, great sense of humor etc.).
FITNESS LEVEL: Expect a moderate 3-miles-an-hour (20-minute mile) pace for this varied terrain (sidewalks, trails) trek with a few hills.
GUESTS: All participants must be registered. Please check in with us on walk viability for companion dogs and/or children. Thank you!
SAFETY & COMMUNITY: For safety and community, we now require full name, email address, and neighborhood. If you aren't willing to be known, this is not the group for you. Thanks for helping us make these events open, engaging, and fun!
FACEBOOK PAGE: For ongoing discussion on current and upcoming walks, check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pdxwomenwhowalk
LIABILITY WAIVER: I'm not a professional walking guide or fitness professional. Although most of this walk is on city sidewalks, Portland sidewalks can be broken and uneven in places. Appropriate walking shoes and caution are always advised. By attending this Women Who Walk event, you assume all risks and liabilities. Event coordinators do not assume any liability if an accident occurs. By registering for this event, you agree to these terms.
