Welcome to our new group.
We're based on the outskirts of the Peak District, a stones throw away from Kinder Scout.
Our group aims to be more widely spread other than the Peaks, our walking programme will take us into the the Lake District, Wales and further afield as Scotland!
What else do we have on offer?..
Weekend walks
Mid week walks
Evening walks in the summer months.
Camping Weekends
Low graded scrambles see disclaimer
Social evenings
Basic map reading courses
Walking weekends staying in group accommodation.
Our Values...
Our members
Inclusion
Diversity
Equality
...and a duty of care to all of our members.
Main objectives are to socialise and make new friends.
We are a subscription based group, so a small charge of £8.00 per year, this will help with meet up fees, admin fees, and any other monies that remain will then go towards booking accommodation for future events.
The Disclaimer!
We are a group of like-minded adults who share the same interest, the great outdoors.
This a a guide to what we do and what we expect from our members.
Our leaders/event hosts are volunteers, they're there to guide groups on walks in the countryside, they're not responsible for each and every participant other than themselves.
It is expected that all participants to be fully responsible for themselves and their own safety, we do not employ first aiders or qualified walk leaders. Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
Some activities in more mountainous regions such as the Lake District, Wales and Scotland, can be more challenging, our walk leaders will use the principal of the groups safety at all times and if the conditions dramatically change for the worse, they will reserve the right to end the walk and turn back. A full and concise descriptions of the terrain will be published in the event write up stating what to expect on the walk, terrain using the best of our knowledge. Also to give our members an insight of what to bring such as walking poles, crampons and wet weather gear.
If for any reason you are concerned about the potential risks of our activities whilst out with the group you could consider taking out a personal insurance plan, e.g. The BMC (British Mountaineering Council)
They offer a yearly membership through direct debit. So for an individual it's £40.11 a year. They have their own benefits of 15% discount in Cotswold Outdoor, Snow and Rock as well as Runners Needs store.
As the main organisers we are also members of the BMC and would recommend it to any of our members who walk the hills on a regular basis.
When you RSVP you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this disclaimer.

Please remember, we're here to have fun and socialise!

The Roaches and Lud's Church Circular
The Roaches parking , Roach Road, upper hulme ST13 8UA,, Upper Hulme, GBThis walk starts on Roach Road, parking can be very sparse so please get there early to bag a space. There's numerous small lay-bys and wide verges but they fill up rather quickly on weekends. If possible car share too.
The route starts in Upper Hulme it will take us on a relatively steep climb up to Hen Cloud, with excellent views of the Tittesworth Reservoir to the west. and beyond.
From here you head down towards the Roaches and make your way along the tops until you drop down and walk through some woods before reaching Lud’s Church. Here it is likely to be muddy, so boots and gaiters are advisable. Now we're on our way back we take a path that runs by the side of Roaches, but slightly lower until you reach Ramshaw Rocks then it’s back to the start.
We're hoping to have some great views, good weather on our early November walk.
Please bring drinks, snacks and warm layers. Also wet weather walking gear is advisable if the weather is poor.
The tea room will hopefully be still open for an after walk hot drink, or if it's a pub you're after, The Rock Inn at Upper Hulme will be a good option.
If for any reason you cannot attend this walk please be considerate and change your RSVP to NO.
