The Disclaimer!
We are a group of like-minded adults who share the same interest, the great outdoors.
This a a guide to what we do and what we expect from our members.
Our leaders/event hosts are volunteers, they're there to guide groups on walks in the countryside, they're not responsible for each and every participant other than themselves.
It is expected that all participants to be fully responsible for themselves and their own safety, we do not employ first aiders or qualified walk leaders. Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
Some activities in more mountainous regions such as the Lake District, Wales and Scotland, can be more challenging, our walk leaders will use the principal of the groups safety at all times and if the conditions dramatically change for the worse, they will reserve the right to end the walk and turn back. A full and concise descriptions of the terrain will be published in the event write up stating what to expect on the walk, terrain using the best of our knowledge. Also to give our members an insight of what to bring such as walking poles, crampons and wet weather gear.
If for any reason you are concerned about the potential risks of our activities whilst out with the group you could consider taking out a personal insurance plan, e.g. The BMC (British Mountaineering Council)
They offer a yearly membership through direct debit. So for an individual it's £40.11 a year. They have their own benefits of 15% discount in Cotswold Outdoor, Snow and Rock as well as Runners Needs store.
As the main organisers we are also members of the BMC and would recommend it to any of our members who walk the hills on a regular basis.
When you RSVP you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this disclaimer.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Please remember, we're here to have fun and socialise!

Walking & Camping Weekend nr Keswick
Location not specified yetWe've chosen a great location for this camping and walking weekend.
Castlerigg Farm Camping and Caravan Site sits in a very beautiful part of the Lake District, away from the noise of towns and traffic, an ideal location for walking and relaxing.
It boasts exceptional views of the surrounding fells, the site looks down towards Derwent Water and in the distance Bassenthwaite Lake.
We're spoilt for choice for walks, with lots of imposing fells we won't be short of something to do.
Close by we have prominent fells such as Skiddaw, Blencathra , and easier options like Catbells and Latrigg. So if you're a Wainwright Bagger, you're in the right place.
If Neolithic stone circles are your thing, look no further! Castle rigg stone circle is located on a plateau not that far from our campsite. It dates back approximately 5,000 years, it is one of the earliest stone circles and features 38 free standing . some up to 3m high.
Walks will be published nearer the time, but for now make your own booking as soon as possible as this is one of the most sort after campsites in the Lake District.

Blencathra with option of Sharp Edge
Location not specified yetThis event will be weather dependant as in if there are high winds and or rain it won't happen, we will decide on the day.
We climb up to Scales Tarn from the start point in one of the lay byes on the A66 near Scales and then onto Sharp Edge and Blencathra summit. There is an alternative path for those who have a change of mind when we get to Scales Tarn.
Sharp Edge is a Grade 1 scramble with plenty of exposure therefore a good head for heights is necessary to tackle this.
A grade 1 scramble is essentially an exposed walking route that takes an interesting route or line up a gully, ridge, or buttress that will require the use of your hands to climb over the steeper sections. If you’ve previously only ever done hillwalking, you’ll need to be prepared for some reasonably exposed sections which will certainly raise your heart rate, but typically you can expect routes that are easy to follow and can be completed without any need for ropes or protection. Whilst the scrambling sections you encounter are relatively straightforward, any difficulties you do run into are generally avoidable with alternative routes. If you’re a competent hillwalker with a decent head for heights, there’s no reason why you can’t immediately make the transition from hillwalking to grade 1 scrambling.
