Two Green Hills above Chinley

Details
This walk begins in the very quaint and rural village of Chinley, in the High Peak, Derbyshire.
The walk takes you on the highs and lows of the surrounding area, of disused quarries, grit stone edges and pastures of green fields.
Our route takes us up onto Cracken Edge, which was once a stone slate quarry. This is quite a steep climb but has very rewarding views. After descending we will hit the A624, quite a busy road for a rural area. We will cross with care and head over towards Mount Famine, this is one of many local "Ethels" in the Peak District, a collection of hills named after Ethel Hawthornwaite, a local conservationist. Yet another steepish hill to climb which has panoramic views of the Kinder Valley and beyond.
We then drop down onto the bridleway a quick run up onto South head for our second Ethel of the day.
After all that excitement we will head down into Chinley to one of the local public houses for refreshments.
Unfortunately there are no public toilets en route.
Walk is around 6/7 miles at a steady pace.
The Disclaimer!
We are a group of like-minded adults who share the same interest, the great outdoors.
Our leaders/event hosts are volunteers, they're there to guide groups on walks in the countryside, they're not responsible for each and every participant other than themselves.
It is expected that all participants to be fully responsible for themselves and their own safety, we do not employ first aiders or qualified walk leaders. Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
