Our walk starts in the lovely village of Fritchley. Fritchley is a small village located in the county of Derbyshire, England. It is situated on the eastern side of the River Derwent and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village has a rich history dating back to the 17th century when it was a thriving centre for the cotton industry. Today, Fritchley is a peaceful and picturesque village with a close-knit community.

One of the most notable landmarks in Fritchley is the Wesleyan Chapel, which was built in 1816. The chapel is a Grade II listed building and is still in use today. It is a testament to the strong religious heritage of the village and is a popular destination for visitors. Another notable feature of Fritchley is the Fritchley Tunnel, which was built in the 19th century to transport goods from the local quarries. The tunnel is now a popular walking route and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

We will meet at The Red Lion Pub, parking on the roadside wherever possible, meeting at 10am for a 10.15am start. This walk is roughly 8.2 miles, returning back to the Red Lion for refreshments for around 14.45.

This walk takes in lots of historical sights, including Crich monument and the remains of an old windmill which once dominated Fritchley. This walk can be a bit challenging in places but very much doable, a moderate level fitness is required. We will take a 10 minute break once we're into the first couple of miles of our walk and our lunch is planned in Crich at the stand, taking in the beautiful surroundings whilst engaging in each others company. These walks are designed to support each other, and help with our mental health. So, come and join me and likeminded walkers, on this not to be missed walk in the beautiful Derbyshire Countryside.
