Details

This is a circular route of approximately 15km through woods and open moorland, that takes in 3 ethels (over 400m) and 2 trig points.

There are NO toilets on the route

The walk starts by entering Corbar Woods, which is Buxton's oldest woodland where an abundance of Wildlife reside and Bluebells are prominent this time of year.
There is a steepish ascent from the woods up onto Corbar Hill which is the first of the 3 Ethels. From there the route follows open access land to the 2nd Ethel and Trig, Black Edge (507m)
The next notable highlight of the walk is Castle Naze, an Iron Age Hillfort which is popular with rock climbers and good overlooking Combs Reservoir.
The 3rd and final ethel is Combs Head (503m)
The last stretch of the walk follow the same path back past Corbar Hill and down into Corbar Woods and then leads back onto the main road.

NO DOGS ALLOWED - This is due to the moorland being open access land and also to protect ground nesting birds.

Distance: Approximately 15km (9.5 miles)
Terrain: Moorland, rocky in places, uneven underfoot and might be boggy in places.
Ascent: Approximately 500-550m
Difficulty: Moderate

Recommended: Sturdy footwear (preferably boots) waterproofs, warm layer, food and drink.
Optional: Gaiters, walking poles.

Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
