Technical Climbing Clinic

Dreamy Draw Recreation Area

$85.00

Do you struggle to make it up rocky ledges and bumpy trails? This clinic will help you learn the techniques to conquer challenging, technical climbs. You'll learn: - bike / body separation. When the climb gets rough, you can't be glued to your saddle. - vision. Where should (and shouldn't) you be looking? - weight distribution. How to keep balanced and maintain traction at the same time. - ratcheting. Get set up for a technical move! - wheel lifts. How to unweight and lift your front and rear wheels over trail features. - gear selection and shifting efficiency. Crucial to not blowing up your legs and maintaining the flow of your ride! - climbing dismount. How to safely bail out of the middle of a climb without crashing! BONUS! Sign up for the Technical Descending and Cornering Clinics and receive a 10% discount on all three clinics! Technical Descending Clinic: https://www.meetup.com/pedalTherapy/events/261277875/ Cornering Clinic: https://www.meetup.com/pedalTherapy/events/261277892/ (a manual refund will be issued via PayPal, Meetup doesn't have the tools to facilitate this kind of discount) Who should attend: This clinic is for the intermediate level rider and above. Ideally, you ride on a somewhat regular basis, are fairly comfortable with your bike and don't mind being challenged. If you're not sure, please don't hesitate to ask. This is a climbing clinic! We will be practicing at the trailhead in a low consequence environment, but will eventually apply what we learn on real trail features, so be well rested and bring your climbing legs! :) This might seem obvious, but just in case…items to consider: Helmet (mandatory) Gloves (mandatory) Eye protection / sunglasses Cycling specific jersey / shorts Elbow / knee pads Adequate water supply via bottles or hydration pack Food / energy bar Quick release seat post clamp or adjustable height seat post Sunscreen Spare tube A note on pedals / shoes: We’ll be getting on and off the bike quite a bit and not going for any particularly long rides. If you have platform pedals, or “flats” that you can temporarily change to, it might be something to consider. It just takes a variable out of the equation when learning new skills versus using “clip-in” style shoes/pedals. If you don’t have flats, or prefer to learn with the setup that your most comfortable with, that’s fine too. I have a couple extra pairs of flat pedals if you would like to borrow them. 3 students minimum for the session to take place, 6 students max! Other questions? Check out the FAQ at http://www.pedaltherapy.com/faq/ or send an email directly to [masked] Vets and law enforcement! Thank you for your service. Enjoy a 10% discount (refunded upon arrival, Meetup doesn't provide me with a means of discounting. Can't combine with discount for multiple clinics)
