What we’re about

I've struggled with finding a group along these lines, so finally am just going to make one and see if it works out as envisioned. Please note that this is purely a peer group for people to share experiences and offer each other our two or three cents and mutual understanding - this is not structured group therapy and we won't have a trained facilitator.

More than anything, it's a chance to meet people whose lives are pushed along some shared intense currents - to tell the stories we rarely get to share for fear of making people uncomfortable, to laugh at some of the beauty and absurdity, and to express the pain that we usually shield others from. So many people have lost a loved one to suicide, or fight hard to help someone struggle with mental illness, and yet we feel alone as we never end up learning this about each other. So, let's meet each other - over coffee, while walking in some beautiful places outside, potlucks when it's safe.

This is not an alternative to therapy, but rather a way to bridge the heavy private pain to our daily lives through new friends and community. Not sure if anyone else is looking for this... we'll see!
