What we’re about
This is a group for anyone interested in investing in exploration and mining companies and wants to understand the industry and how to analyse a potential investment.
The group has been in existence for a little over a year now and we have covered a number of topics including looking at real-world investment decisions, we had a presentation from Alex Parkes, MD of Sun Resources, also a couple of sessions on the Life Cycle of a Mine (Geology and Exploration) and most recently, an introduction to Financial Models.
Until the outbreak of coronavirus, our Meetups were held at Riff on St George’s Terrace, but our most recent meeting was held using Google Meets, which seemed to work okay for everybody.
The topics for future Meetups will very much be driven by the interests of the group, so, if you have a particular topic or aspect of exploration and mining that you are trying to understand, then please get in touch and I will see if I can build a meeting around it.
There are two limitations that I must place on these sessions. Firstly, I will not analyse or comment on any company for whom I have worked previously or for whom I am currently doing work. However, there are over 650 companies listed in the Materials GICS industry group, so there are plenty of other companies to review! Secondly, I do not provide investment advice as I am not a licenced advisor. The purpose of this group is to give you the skills to do your own due diligence and arrive at your own decisions.
