About us
Looking to enjoy the vibrant arts and social scene in Perth? Join our Meetup group for dining out, wine tastings, movie nights, gallery visits, cultural activities, and more. Whether you're a film lover, bookworm, art enthusiast, or simply looking to meet like-minded individuals, our group offers something for everyone. From exploring the fine arts at galleries to indulging in dinner, theatres and tea socials, we have a variety of events to suit your interests. Join us for a mix of day and night outings that celebrate culture, ethnicity, and the arts in Perth.
If you RSVP 'going' and are unable to attend, please update your RSVP and send a message to the host to let them know that your plans have changed and you will be unable to attend. Please don't RSVP 'going' and then not show up; it's not fair to the host and the group. No shows will result in removal from the group.
Please feel free to suggest events for the group. I'm keen on low-cost or free events to maximise participation, as there's a cost-of-living crisis.
You can contact me through the chat box.

Book Club and Brunch - June
Ekiben, 56-58 Angove Street, North Perth, AUI'm going to give everyone some more time to read this book, it's a longer read.
The book for this month is The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny by Kiran Desai.
I figured if we read all to the best and recommended books of 2025, we should be all caught up by the end of 2026. The book was long listed for the Booker Prize and was on the NYT best books of 2025 list.
I'm really looking forward to reading it, it should be good.
Search the pdf for download here:

or buy the book here:

Note: I bought the book on Amazon for $26, it arrived via courier the next day.

Hopefully there should be enough time to download or order the book online between now and the end of May. I will try posting the events earlier from now on to allow more time for people to either purchase the book or order it from the library.
We read a variety of books, from non-fiction, fiction, memoir, autobiography, historical fiction and more. We prefer something with a broad appeal, this is a mixed gender all ages group, accessibility is also important, current releases are more widely available either through the library or for purchase.
We meet at a cafe in or around the city, I recommend Ekiben, for great coffee and Japanese foods. https://www.error404.com.au/
The rules of this group are please, keep your RSVP up-to-date, NO SHOWS are not permitted as I have to make a booking with the venue for a group ahead of time, I have to give accurate numbers. Failure to comply with our groups NO SHOW policy will result in your removal from the grroup and/or permanent banning.

Book Club and Brunch - July
Ekiben, 56-58 Angove Street, North Perth, AUI'm announcing the dates and book for July early, so everyone has time to either order the book online, or order it from your public library.
At our last meeting, we had a discussion about money and retirement planning, it was interesting everyone has different views towards money, some people hold the view that you can always make more and more is on the way, while others or more meticulous in their financial planning.
I was hoping everyone could read, Ken Honda's Happy Money: The Japanese Art of Making Peace with Your Money.
This looks at the spiritual dimensions of money and wealth, a must read for anyone interest in recognizing their own abundance and mastering their money.
Buy the book:
https://www.amazon.com.au/Happy-Money-Japanese-Making-Peace/dp/1501188372
I think Amazon is the cheapest and quickest option.
