For our May meeting we are delighted to welcome MP Sam Carling who will be talking to us about his work in the All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group. Sam has been serving as the Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire since 2024. He is currently the youngest member of Parliament and Sam is well known for campaigning on Humanist and secular issues, including challenging religious exceptionalism.
The All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group is a cross-party group of Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords of all the main parties, including members from the Crossbenches in the Lords. The Group meets around four times a year to hear speakers and discuss relevant issues, as well as to share information and receive briefings on matters of interest. Over the years, members of the APPHG has explored issues relating to humanists and the non-religious through holding its own inquiries and conducting original research.
As usual the main topic will be followed by hot beverages, yummy biscuits and some friendly chat. We hope you can join us.
