What we’re about

About Us:

Why Pets Choir?
Pets Choir was created for pet owners, pet carers and pet lovers to learn and perform songs, with the aim of supporting pet rescue in the UK

Why MeetUp for Pets Choir?
We joined Meetup mid November '23 as a way to bring members together, and form our London choir with a view to supporting pet rescue in London

Why do you ask members to email directly, rather than via Meetup?
There are two reasons for this (and we will also respond to Meetup messages)

1)As there will be dogs present a pet-friendly rehearsal venues, there will be a form for owners to sign to say that they agree to be responsible for their dog, and for any other relevant details. Knowing who members are at rehearsals is also to protect the dogs present.

2)We ask members to complete a form with their basic information, and any learning needs. This is to help you get the most out of the choir, and also common-sense security for choir member

Do I need to audition for the choir, or need to be able to read music, or lyrics?
No and no - we are a community-minded choir and do not discriminate if you do not come from a musical background. If you are not able to read song lyrics, we just ask that you let us know - as songs can also be learned by ear. A love of singing and a willingness to be kind to others are the main things we ask from members.

What age is the choir for?
We are starting off with a choir for adults, of aged 18 upwards - there is no upper age limit

Do I need to bring my pet?
Whilst the name 'Pets Choir' would suggest the choir is for pets, it is with their welfare in mind that we exist - you do not need to bring your pet, however well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome at pet-friendly rehearsals

When will the first Meetup event be announced?
As we started the Pets Choir Gloucestershire Meetup group in the middle of November '23, the first event will be announced once enough members have had a chance to join the group

Would a member ever be removed from the Meetup group?
As a choir we reserve the right to remove a member from the choir, in the unlikely event that there inappropriate behaviour towards either another member or their pet, or towards the group organiser - either in person or in writing. This is in line with the Meetup website's code of conduct and keeps the choir a safe environment for members.

Anything else to mention?
There is a growing need for increased awareness of pet welfare in the UK, particularly with the current XL bully dog ban, and with the 'no pets allowed' predicament in private renting. A great many pet owners are being forced to give up their pets, one reason being that they cannot afford to buy pet food. We will have a pet food donation station in due course at rehearsals, as well as a platform to let members know about pets needing homes. A nominated rescue will receive our donation each month
