About us
Doing a PhD or Post-doc is incredibly isolating. You spend all day in a lab, an archive, or behind a screen, and it is hard to meet people outside of your specific research group.
This is a totally free, informal group for PhD students, Post-docs, and academic researchers in Madrid to get together, grab a drink, and actually socialize. There are no presentations, no entry fees, and no networking gimmicks.
What we gather for:
- Share the struggles of dealing with PIs, peer review, and academic bureaucracy.
- Problem Solving: Swap advice on getting Spanish grants (FPU/FPI), navigating university administration, or finding housing in Madrid.
- Cross-Pollination: Casually learn what people in entirely different disciplines are working on.
- Real Friendships: Get out of the lab and meet smart, interesting people who understand the academic lifestyle.
Whether you just moved to Madrid for a new contract or you are in the final, stressful months of writing your thesis, or even if you finished your journey and started teaching or working in a lab, come have a coffee or a beer with us.
