Live First Harvest Lammas Ritual and Feast!
Details
Join with our Dianic Women’s Circle in Philadelphia to celebrate First Harvest, also known by our foremothers as Lammas or Loaf Mass, celebrated as Tailunasa to honor the goddess Tailtu, She of sovereignty and the land . This festival celebrates the first fruits, in our area stone fruits, sweet corn, berries and beans. As the days get shorter, our fertile Mother Earth pours forth Her love generously with Her harvest bounty. In the midst of abundance and joy, we look ahead to what we hope for in our personal harvests - our life goals, works, projects - and ask ourselves what must be sacrificed to support our later harvests at Fall Equinox and Hallows. What behavior patterns, attitudes and tendencies distract us and misdirect energy from what we intend to bring to fruition? In our weeding and cutting back, we honor the Dark Mother as Reaper, making voluntary sacrifices for rich harvests later on. This festival also honors women as Mother in the Women’s Wheel of the Year, ripe with self-knowledge and creativity producing children, art and works, building and sustaining families, communities and political commitments. Our ritual will include readings, poetry, drumming, song and ritual enactments to ground our intentions. Bring your percussion instruments if you like! We will feast on bread and stone fruit.
Our location will be sent to the women who confirm via this app or by emailing philadelphiadianicwitchcraft@gmail.com. If you know women who would like to attend, please have them join the meetup and confirm through the app or via email. Harvest blessings!!!
In Her Service,
Julia
