Stoic Practice Roundtable: Contemplating Contentment
Details
Should happiness be the central goal of life? Is happiness even achievable?
Some schools of thought say yes in answer to both these questions, but certain theories of modern psychology and ancient philosophy both question this supposition.
This session’s discussion will center around the question of happiness and contentment as framed by Epictetus in his Discourse “On contentment “.
What do the concepts of happiness and contentment mean? How do we apply them? Do they lead to a meaningful life? And if so, how?
Join Philadelphia Stoa in a continuation of our series on Stoic method and practice. Optioal lunch will follow discussion.
