Come down to the beautiful Delaware River in Bensalem and see what its like to row a traditional Irish Curragh. No rowing experience necessary, we will teach you as you go. It’s not necessary to have an Irish heritage, but a love for all things Irish makes this sport and festivities all the more fun. The Philadelphia team has a strong tradition for competing for the league championship we have won this the past two seasons.
We are interested in finding new dedicated members to add to our team. As with all competitive teams, not everyone can make the team, but it is worth giving it a try.
We are looking for both men and women, from teens to middle age to be on our team. Some of our rowers have been participating for many years, some are new. This is a very unique sport where we compete with other teams from Albany, Boston, New London, Pittsburgh, Annapolis, and Milwaukee. We travel to each of these cities throughout the summer and early fall and just like the Irish - we work hard at these regattas to play hard after at the awards festivities. These ceremonies are usually in pubs where we get to just kick back after a day of rowing to hang out with all the teams. It’s a great day and we get trophies for wins! Philadelphia hosts the first regatta in June.

This is a very demanding sport and you should be in good physical health. As with all physical activities you should consult a physician prior to participating.
What to wear - gloves (finger-less weight lifting gloves work best) and shoes you don’t mind getting wet, sweat cloths, but no pockets in the sweatshirt (they tend to catch the oar handles).
Also, we are guests of the Columbus Country Club (our practice site) and they have two rules we need to follow: 1) Don’t exceed 5 MPH on the property and 2) No pets.
