The weather is getting warmer again, so I'm taking advantage of the mild forecast and scheduling a "last-minute" event to get things started for 2026. The paved riverside trails are ideal for this time of year, as many dirt trails will be muddy.

The plan is to meet under the Angel (World War II railroad workers memorial) on the main concourse (*not* the upper level SEPTA platforms, in case there is any confusion). After briefly getting acquainted, we have several options of following the paths along the river, probably proceeding first to Cira Green, the rooftop park about a block south of the station, and from there to Penn Park. At the Scott's suggestion, we will continue south using Hollenback Drive and Riverfields Drive which will bring us to University Avenue Bridge/south 34th Street, crossing the river there, rather than using South Street Bridge to cross over to the east bank of the Schuylkill, as we did last week. This will bring us to Grey's Ferry Crescent, where we will take a look at the soon-to-be-opened swing bridge aka Schuylkill Crossing, which will connect to Bartram's Mile starting sometime this Spring. We will then turn around and head back upstream, traversing the newest section of trail "Christian to Crescent" before continuing past our starting point as far upstream as Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, Boathouse Row. There will be various opportunities to "customize" your walk by returning to our starting point earlier. (Scott Maits is planning on joining us; if he is not able to get online before this event, I will add him as Event Host before our walk )
I look forward to sharing more events with you as we move into the warmer months.
