Way back when, our city fathers decided it was a good idea to protect the water supply to prevent water-borne diseases like cholera, so they created the Fairmount Park system. The Wissahickon is the most well-known section of this, and we will be exploring trails perhaps slightly less familiar.
We will begin at the Wissahickon train station of the Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail line. The train from Center City arrives shortly before half past the hour; we will begin walking up the hill by quarter to noon. We will be following Rochelle Avenue to Freeland Avenue, where there is a trailhead at the top of the Hundred Steps. We will hike for about 2 hours, (probably less than 3), depending on group consensus. Difficulty level on a scale of 1-10 (1 being easiest) will be around 3 or 4, again depending on consensus. (Splitting off from the group and returning early is fairly doable.) We will probably go through Daisy Field, and the plan is to visit the Hermit's Cave.
Depending on group consensus, we can return to our starting point via the streetscape, or via the paved bike path at the bottom of the hill. The bike path comes out across Ridge Avenue from the Wissahickon Transfer Center (which has been going through extensive renovations), down the hill from our starting point at the Wissahickon Train station.

Please dress appropriate to the weather, and I look forward to sharing this time with you.
Thanks & see you in the trails!
