Phenomenology
Phenomenology is a philosophical study and movement largely associated with the early 20th century that seeks to objectively investigate the nature of subjective, conscious experience. It attempts to describe the universal features of consciousness while avoiding assumptions about the external world, aiming to describe phenomena as they appear, and to explore the meaning and significance of lived experience.
A lot of philosophy is often based on empirical evidence or evidence based, proven by facts, however a lot of our reality is subjective and unmeasurable or at least at the moment, how do you measure how in love you are or how awestruck you are at some experience that has literally rocked your world.
Are we as a race placing too much emphasis on the more empirical methodology to describe and place meaning on our reality to the point that we become disassociated from out reality as a set of values and lose an embodied felt sense connection to the universe as we know it or can we find out the meaning of it all through a more creative experienced way of exploration of life as we know it? or is there a middle ground?
If your interested in exploring what exactly is Phenomenology, what it's guiding principles are, how it came about, what it has to offer and explore its relevance today come along on the 20 August at 6pm for what is always a deep and enjoyable discussion on philosophical matters in a relevant modern way.
We welcome you to come and put your views to our group on the validity and utility of critical thinking in an environment that respects the right of people to be heard with dignity in an endeavour to find the truth of relevant philosophical matters.
