This weekly meetup group seeks to explore philosophies and theories from all ages and cultures concerning the "art of living." This includes classics like Aristotle's virtue ethics and the Stoics, modern approaches like Nietzsche's self-creation or self-overcoming, as well as contemporary "self-growth" authors such as Tony Robbins, Robert Greene, Jay Shetty, or James Clear. We will consult these texts with regard to our guiding question of: How can we orient ourselves (more) successfully in today's world? The respective texts will be chosen together with the group's participants. Everyone is welcome who is willing to read the texts before the sessions and open to debate them in a respectful and focused manner.
This group is part of a local philosophy foundation in Nashville, the "Foundation for Philosophical Orientation," which is based on the philosophy of orientation. Please join us for our weekly meetings and try to contact us in advance to find out the current readings.
