The Myth of the Cave and Its Symbols
With Sarah Paz

***

Plato’s Myth of the Cave is one of the most powerful and timeless images in philosophy. More than an ancient story, it is a symbolic map of the human condition — revealing how we perceive reality, why we resist truth, and what it takes to awaken.

In this talk, participants will explore the deeper meaning behind the cave, the chains, the shadows, the fire, and the sunlight. Each symbol represents an aspect of our inner life: our limitations, our beliefs, our fears, and our potential for growth. Through philosophical reflection and practical examples, we will examine how this myth speaks directly to modern life — in a world shaped by distraction, appearances, and information overload.

This is an invitation to reflect on an essential question: Are we seeing reality as it is, or only its shadows? Philosophy here becomes not abstract theory, but a path toward clarity, freedom, and conscious living.
