We'll discuss the philosophy of the U.S. Constitution. With rising meetup fees, to keep costs down, no food and drink will be served, so feel free to bring your own!
Philosophy is often caricatured as abstract and detached from the harsher realities of human life. Join us this session as we put this notion to the test by confronting one of the most enduring and urgent human problems: war. Drawing upon different cultures and philosophical traditions, and thinkers such as Carl von Clausewitz, Augustine of Hippo, Michael Walzer, Thomas Hobbes, Homer, Thomas Aquinas, Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Thucydides, and more, we will connect philosophical theory with life-and-death questions:What is war? What causes it? What is its relation to human nature? And can it ever be morally justified?
