## What Is the Chicago Philosophy Association?
The Chicago Philosophy Association (CPA) is a community for curious people who want to explore the questions beneath everyday life:
Who am I? What makes life meaningful? Does God exist? Is morality objective? What is consciousness? Can AI ever become a person? What can we really know?
You don't need a philosophy degree or have a father who thinks he is a philosopher with a pipe!
CPA brings together professionals, students, professors, skeptics, believers, and lifelong learners for thoughtful conversation, lively debate, and genuine community.
## What We Explore
🧠 Mind, Consciousness & Personal Identity
What is the self? Are we simply our brains? Could consciousness survive the body?
⚖️ Ethics & the Good Life
What makes something right or wrong? Is morality objective or relative? What does it mean to live well?
🌌 God, Religion & Reality
Does God exist? What are the strongest arguments for and against belief? How should we think about faith, reason, miracles, suffering, Christianity, Islam, and other religious traditions?
🤖 AI, Technology & Humanity
Can machines think or become conscious? What makes human beings unique in an age of increasingly intelligent machines?
🔬 Science, Knowledge & Truth
What can science tell us—and where are its limits? How do we distinguish knowledge from opinion, ideology, and misinformation?
🌍 Philosophy & Contemporary Life
Culture, education, politics, technology, relationships, justice, free speech, meaning, and the philosophical questions behind current events.
## More Than a Discussion Group
CPA gatherings may include round-table discussions, guest speakers, debates, books, films, food, and social events.
Sometimes philosophy happens around a lecture table.
Sometimes it happens over pizza, wine, bourbon, and cigars.
Either way, the goal is the same: better questions, deeper thinking, meaningful conversation, and interesting people.
### Come Think With Us.
Whether you've studied philosophy for decades or you're simply curious about life's biggest questions, there's a seat for you at the table.

How to Be a Perfect Human: 4 Monday Classes, Only 12 Seats
Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA, IL, USOnly 12 seats. Founding price ends Friday, Oct 23.
Hi friends,
Yes, the class is called "How to Be a Perfect Human." No, I have not figured it out. Plato, Marcus Aurelius, Frankl and Descartes didn't either, but they got a lot closer than the rest of us, and they left notes.
You've been showing up to our CPA nights for years, and some of the best conversations I've had in Chicago have been with you. So I wanted to offer something deeper.
For four Monday evenings, a small group of us will sit around one table with those notes. We'll read them slowly, talk honestly, and leave each night with something we can actually use.
By December, you WILL walk away with:- A clearer head. You'll learn Plato's tools for spotting the illusions that keep smart people stuck, and you'll practice using them on your own life.
- A steadier character. You'll take home Marcus Aurelius's daily practice for staying calm when life is not.
- Meaning that holds up in hard seasons. Viktor Frankl's method for finding purpose even in suffering, made practical for your week.
- A sharper sense of what makes you human in the age of AI. You'll have a clear answer when the machines get smarter, through Descartes and the question of the self.
The four Mondays (one registration covers all four):
- Nov 9: Plato, the Apology and the Allegory of the Cave
- Nov 16: Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
- Nov 30: Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning
- Dec 7: Descartes and the Age of AI
(We skip Nov 23 for Thanksgiving.)
7:00 to 8:30 pm at a beautiful Chicago location I'll announce soon.
Why only 12? Good conversation needs a small table. When the 12 seats are gone, I'll open a waitlist.
Founding price: $150 for all four nights, through Friday, Oct 23. After that it goes to $195. If you'd like personal guidance alongside the class, there's also a $500 option that includes two private coaching sessions with me.
Please note: an RSVP on Meetup doesn't hold your seat. Grab yours here:
