What is Zwanze Day?
Cantillon’s Zwanze series of beers and events began in 2008 with a bottling of a special lambic with rhubarb added. Since then, Cantillon brewer Jean Van Roy has used his Zwanze series and the celebration days (since 2011) associated with them to bring lambic enthusiasts together around the world. The word zwanze in the Brussels dialect refers to a semi-sarcastic style of humor. That sense of humor is often reflected in the experimental nature of the beers, which are not always the most traditional of lambics. In the Flemish dialect, the verb zwanzen means to joke or to kid, and this has been reflected in some of the stories associated with the Zwanze beers over time.

What’s the beer?
Each year, Cantillon creates a completely new, one off experimental lambic (in this years case, two).
These beers often push boundaries — unusual fruit, unexpected ingredients, or creative blending techniques. The recipe changes every year and is never exactly repeated.

Since this is the fist time this event has been in AZ, here is a little color on how the event works:
• A curated list of bars around the world is selected
• The beer is tapped simultaneously worldwide
• It’s draft-only and extremely limited
• When the keg(s) kick, that’s it
