This in-person book club + writer's craft talk series is ideal for authors of all skill levels who want to read a work of fiction and then discuss it in terms of writing craft elements -- all in a comfortable group setting guided by author Eric Boyd!
Our September book is “A Psalm for the Wild Built,” by Becky Chambers. If you prefer to buy the book, it is often more cost effective to buy Monk & Robot, which includes Psalm and also “A Prayer for the Crown-Shy.”
Craft discussion topics to include: character arcs, writing cozy, and integrating theme.
THIS BOOK CLUB IS GREAT FOR:
• Authors who want to read fiction to improve their own craft
• Authors of all skill levels and genres
• Authors looking to meet other authors and connect

• Check in at 10AM, we get started around 10:10

Monk & Robot Synopsis:
Becky Chambers' delightful, post-Utopian, Hugo Award-winning fiction series gives us hope for the future.
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered.

Ariozna author Eric Boyd is the creator and host of PHX Oasis Press’s wildly popular “Writers Read Craft Book Club. Through the book club, authors read fiction and talk craft all with the end goal of helping them become stronger writers. The best part: attendees only have to read a work of fiction (you don’t have to read craft books or articles!) Eric uses his wealth of experience with writing craft to gear the discussion, and includes tons of references attendees can dig into after the session.
