About us
We’re back for our second summer of Float Friday!
Every Friday, we head out to the Schuylkill River for a group float to kick off the weekend. Bring your own float (tube, kayak, paddleboard, etc.) or message us ahead of time if you want to borrow a tube - we usually have extras!
Our typical floats are every Friday at 5 pm at Lock 60 by the boat launch. We do stationary floats with an anchor and then connect our floats with carabiners. This makes it super easy to come and go whenever you can. Look for our 5’ inflatable zebra named Ralph and you’ll know you’ve found us. We also occasionally plan bigger floats that go downriver, so keep an eye out for special events (last year we did a pirate themed float!)
There’s almost always a bigger group than the Meetup RSVPs show since we have some regulars from last summer plus others who find us through Instagram - @pxvfloatfriday.
Let’s get some sun, meet some new people, and make the most of this summer!

Float Friday
Lock 60 Recreation Area, Tow Path Road, Mont Clare, PA, USJoin us for the first float of the season!
Every summer Friday we kick off the weekend with a relaxing & social float on the Schuylkill River. How does it work? We do stationary floats, meaning we anchor in the river and just chill while floating. We link our tubes together (we have plenty of extra carabiners) so it's easy to chat and get to know each other while we soak up some sun and kick off the weekend.
This setup is low-stress - you can come and go when you need to and there's no complicated car coordination since we stay in one spot.Where do we meet? We meet at Lock 60 Recreation Area in Mont Clare. At the end of the tow path road is a parking lot and an entrance to the river where we'll be floating. Look for the 5ft inflatable zebra - that's our mascot River Ralph.
Who can come? All adults are welcome, whether you're coming solo or with friends. We ask that you do not bring kids so we can keep the group relaxed and focused on making connections. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join!
What should I bring?
- Tube, kayak, paddleboard, or other float (we have plenty of extra tubes - send us a message if you need one & we can reserve it for you)
- Pump if needed to inflate
- Swimwear
- Towel
- Water shoes
- Sunscreen
- Whatever snacks/drinks you want
What's the plan if the weather sucks? We keep a close eye on weather and river conditions. If it's stormy, recently flooded, or just too chilly, we may cancel the float or do a park hang instead. Updates will be shared on Meetup and Instagram.
Safety and River Rules: Float Friday is a casual social group that meets in a public park. You are responsible for your own safety while attending. Please be respectful of others using the park and respectful of the river itself. We're all here to enjoy the space and keep it beautiful.
We are not a formal organization - just people getting together to float, relax, and meet new friends.Instagram: instagram.com/pxvfloatfriday
