About us
Welcome to Photo Explorers: Plymouth to Boston.
This is a community for photographers drawn to the character of Plymouth, the South Shore, and Boston alike — from cranberry bogs at harvest and the turn of fall color to historic streets and the city's layered architecture. Whatever your level of photography experience, we invite you to join us for historic photo walks, workshops, and creative challenges, with room for everything from traditional technique to alternative processes and iPhonography.
Here, we share our craft, learn from one another, and create meaningful images together. We'd love to have you join us in exploring — and photographing — all that this region, in every season, has to offer.
The group is led by Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis, accomplished photographers and educators with over 90 years of combined experience, are excited to share their expertise in their workshops and presentations. Bobbi, known as the "Mistress of Light," is celebrated for her creative portraiture and has been recognized by Photo District News as one of the top workshop instructors. Her passion for teaching and mastery of lighting techniques makes her a sought-after mentor. Lee, the "Sultan of Skin," is a renowned photo-illustrator whose work includes iconic movie posters such as Silence of the Lambs and Star Trek. With his deep knowledge of digital imaging and creative photo illustration, he inspires photographers to push their artistic boundaries. Together, Bobbi and Lee lead immersive photography workshops and adventures worldwide, providing participants unique opportunities to refine their skills in diverse and inspiring locations.
Every Photo Walk and Workshop will include educational materials to help you prepare and a follow up Zoom Meeting to review your photos.
