We are a the folks from PhotoManhattan School offering free and affordable photography classes in NYC, workshops and photo exhibitions on a monthly basis. All our events are booked with photographers and photo students from our school and remaining spaces are regularly opened for free for the members of this group. Other events and classes may have a nominal fee. You won't be alone. Just walk in head to the front desk, mention that you come from meetup.com, we'll be expecting you. For other photo courses and online webinars please view a wide range of photo classes from street photography, through Studio & Lighting, to TTL flash.

At exhibits, you'll find tons of people, up to 45 at times, music, complementary snacks and beverages, friendly people, and great photographs! You may socialize as much as you like, or simply watch the students' photo series on your own. Exhibitions are open to everyone.

Free classes can be anywhere from 5 to 20 students. They are structured classes, not just talks. We offer remaining spaces for free at meetup.com as often as possible. Some have hands on or outdoor shooting, depending on their description.

Photoshop I
Learn how to fine-tune your pictures through post-processing. Topics include adjusting brightness and contrast, color balance, levels, curves, clone stamp, filters and more. Within each class, students receive practical instruction as they are guided through the software and editing process using both in-class images and their own.

Requirements: a) Access to Adobe Lightroom – 4 week free trial available at adobe.com. b) Basic knowledge of how to operate your laptop commands.

Note: Should the assigned instructor become suddenly unavailable, we'll allocate a substitute instructor.

This 2-hour street photo session is the more basic version of our 10-hour Street Photography Course. In this class you will learn the tricks and tips on how to shoot quickly and efficiently so to capture beautiful street photos. Class will include composition, perspective, focus control, visualization and getting the best possible framing in busy streets and crowded spaces. Whether you shoot with a DSLR, Point and shoot, or IPhone, this class is right for you.

Requirements: 1- Camera Settings basic knowledge (View Digital Camera settings above). 2- Digital camera (DSLR or Point and shoot or iPhone). Note: class will include a quick review of the camera's basics, but it will not be a lesson on camera settings. If you feel you need a reinforcement on it, please take the Digital Camera Settings prior to this class.

Note: if you are taking or plan on taking the Street Photography Course (10.5 hours), be aware that a bit of the basics might repeat. However, the street Photography course is much more advanced -within the beginner level.

Enhance your Travel Photos with this workshop mix of Landscape, Cityscape and Street Photography. Capture that scene with confidence and creativity. This course is mostly taken place outdoor and focuses on honing compositional skills specific to landscapes, cityscapes and street photography. Ideal for the frequent traveler, the photojournalist, and the photographer who just likes to take pictures anywhere, everywhere!

Learn savvy techniques that will turn your landscape images into outstanding ones, such as lighting, composition, special effects particular to landscape. As well as street photography techniques to capture your scenes and moments with confidence and creativity. Our experienced instructors will guide you through various sets of exercises and outdoor shooting scenarios that will fully prepare you for your next outdoor adventure. Sessions will consist of real-time shooting and immediate review of the work photographed during class. This is an excellent workshop to prepare to capture your travel scenes with confidence and creativity, from street portraits to landscape. Shooting areas will be either the High Line, Union Square, Central Park, or other locations as determined by the instructor. Classes take place mainly outdoors. In the winter months, please be prepared for the cold. Some parts of the sessions may take place indoors on very cold days. In case of rain, classes may be rescheduled, as possible.

Requirement:

* Knowing how to operate your camera, in auto or manual mode.
* Any cameras are allowed from DSLR's to Phone cameras.
Note This course will not review the fundamentals of camera functions and exposure; students are expected to know how to manage their cameras. — either in automatic or manual mode (recommended).
