Overlook Mountain, Hotel Ruins, and a Buddhist Temple

Overlook Mountain trail offers a hike mostly along an old gravel road, providing a steady incline to the summit. We will take our time and several breaks on way up. The views at the top are definitely worth the trek! It is about 1350 feet of elevation and 4.6 miles round trip. Along the way, you'll encounter a variety of interesting sights, including the ruins of an old hotel, a fire tower, and a Buddhist temple (it may or may not be open). The mountain fire tower also offers nice views, extending across the Catskills and even into the Hudson Valley.
Trail to Overlook Mountain
We will meet at Stuyvesant plaza in front of old entrance near old TGIF and Starbucks at 8:30. It takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes to get there.
Need to be sure to wear hiking boots. Bring a snack for the top and wear layers...you know the drill. Lunch in Woodstock after? We should be back down by @1:00 depending on how much time we spend at the hotel and possibly the Buddhist temple.
